Hi everyone,
We've just posted a feature about mobile Web surfing and a part of this feature we've included a list of some of our favourite mobile Web sites.
Do you surf the Web from your phone? We'd love to hear about the mobile sites you visit.

I used to hate mobile browsing. Tiny screen, expensive and slow GPRS.
I swapped to Telstra nextG and to be honest, the first phone I used, while faster, still suffered from having a tiny screen.
Luckiy, Telstra in an uncharacteristically generous gesture allowed me to swap my phone at no charge for one with a larger screen, a Samsung A701. Now I really do love mobile internet.
I've used it to show friends funny videos, get statistics and news articles to wow teachers in class and do research for assignments, all on the relatively spacious mobile display. I rarely visit specific mobile sites, the phone is smart enough to display full size sites scaled down. Exceptions are multimedia sites like YouTube where the mobile version is the only one compatible with mobile browsers.
Sites I frequent include:
Google (www.google.com.au)
Wikipedia (www.wikipedia.org)
Youtube (www.youtube.com)
The Age
Bigpond Mobile
In addition, I frequently use Foxtel Mobile. I find Sky News is far more educational than the teacher up front normally who can't tell a left wing political part from a chicken wing
I also check weather from BoM including satellite and radar images, very useful when photographing.
3G networks have brought the speed needed and phones with larger displays now give enough real estate to actually make mobile broadband usable.

depending on how very bored you are
http://www.zoovision.com/mobile.html
they have world news and they have um... micheal jackson... eheh.
I have to admit, I like to eaves drop on my mate's status updates on mobile facebook.. even though you cant really use the apps. you can still leave comments and look at pics... And msn live for mobile is most handy for messenger ( a bit laggy tho) and checking the email.
plus I have to big up
http://mobile.theonion.com/content/
for my kicks while eating lunch and to remind me that even though I may be having a crap day I prolly have it better than some others eg this leetel tale: http://mobile.theonion.com/content/node/77722

i can only think of using mobile internet one time, and that was when i used my phone to find out if steve ewin was truly dead
cause it was one on those things where your like oh it cant be true, but everyone crowded around my phone to read the article.
so i would say that i dont use phone internet much at all, unless i cant wait to check if something happened or not and i cant wait till i get home.
i would use it more if it was free/included in my plan though!!!

I'll hand it to Telstra, their mobile web browsing is good value. Mobile internet is horribly expensive when using my nextG handset as a modem, but just surfing on the phone itself, not bad. I get $5 included per month which is fine and a lot of what I look at like news and BoM is free. Foxtel only costs $8 a month, not too bad.

Im pretty sure Vodafone charge about $2 per 5 min block of usage. I would check for sure but their annoying website crashes everytime i try to look at my bill. ( my only and somewhat major gripe with Vodafone)
Anyway, this is a far cry from some of the horror stories Ive heard about Telstra including where a friend who left the browser open all night when he fell asleep anded up with a $1500 bill. Profiteering is so uncool.

$2 for 5min, that's heaps more than any Telstra time based data plan and way heap more than a Telstra data plan based on downloads.

yeah c_p like I said Im not 100% sure, but I know its cheaper that Telstra. Telstra are a rip which ever way you look at them IMO.
Just curious... but why use the quote thingy, when its answering the post above yours? I find that akin to finger pointing.. but maybe Its just me....

I used the quote function because I was responding specifically to the pricing you stated.
My reply points out that the prices you states for Vodafone's data make them much more expensive than Telstra nextG.
Sorry for any offense.

Have you tried creating your own mobile site? I got an email from Mobilemo. It's a mobile site provider. They said you can create your own mobile site using their platform. They're even giving away free premium memberships. Here's the link: http://www.mobilemo.com/premiumpromo.php . Have you tried it already? Any good?
