This is a new problem-cannot identify anything that should have triggered it and it is intermittent. When I use the Sleep button on the keyboard, the PC shuts down. I can only get the PC to restart by turning off, then on, at the wall switch, which then turns off my external adsl modem which then has great trouble reconnecting with my ISP. I have a surge protector, but it is not tripping when this happens. I have had to use the ISP help desk twice in the last 5 days to gte a reconnection.
I tried using the Sleep function from Start, and there was no problem....on that occasion!
I have Vista Home Premium.
This might seem trivial, but I use the Sleep function frequently, and find it very useful during the day.Having to reconnect with my ISP is a real pain.

Firstly can't you use the power button on your PC to turn it on or off instead of the power switch on the wall?
And what type of keyboard is it?
Is it Microsoft?
If it is go to http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/download/download.aspx?category=MK which will give you software that can change the functionality of keyboard buttons.

i may have a solution.

in your control panel (simple view) go to
- System and Maintenance
- Power Options
- On the side panel click "Choose what the power buttons do"
- then use the click down menu in the "when i press the sleep button" row to sleep.

That may be be your answer to your problem.
