Hi if you are going to use it for your Skiing trip there may be some factors to consider.
Camcorder batteries cannot handle below 0'c temperatures too well. If you are may I suggest that you keep the camcorder above those temperatures if possible. If the temperature drops then keep the camcorder as close to you as possible thus allowing your body heat to keep it warm or store the camcorder in a camcorder bag when not using.
If you want to ski with it you may look at solid state memory or SD card camcorders so that its not as sensitive to shakes & bumps like HDD camcorders. Also look for a camcorder that has AV input so that you can connect up a helmet camcorder and send the signal to the camcorders AV input.
These are just some thoughts to consider, have a good trip.
